Later this month, Fluidata’s own Head of Practice Simon Stokes will be attending and talking at
Transform Digital: Bristol. The conference, which is taking place over two days in September, will see a vast array of big-name industry experts cover a range of topics from digital infrastructure for economic development and the growth of the competitive sector through to new approaches offering value for money where public funding is involved. The national agenda for rural broadband is also heavily earmarked for discussion, with Simon himself hosting a talk on driving demand into rural networks using Fluidata’s network charter. The network charter, which is being supported by INCA and Point Topic, is an overall set of principles and approaches designed in order to ensure standards and adherence are met in regards to products, provisioning, service levels and support systems offered to other service providers using their networks. Simon will be delivering his talk just after 3pm, and as always, you can expect an articulate and intelligent insight into an important topic within our industry.
Superconnect Cities hits a purple patch
On the 15th, there will be a chance for local businesses to learn about the Government’s Superconnected Cities Connection Vouchers scheme through a free seminar detailing the benefits. The scheme, which offers grants worth between £100 and £3,000 to help SME’s around 50 UK cities get a superfast connection installed, recently confirmed that 40,941 businesses have now benefited from the vouchers.
This is a sharp increase from the previously reported figure of 15,000 in Q1 2015 and shows that demand for vouchers is rapidly growing. It suggests that if businesses are still on the fence about applying, then they may wish to make a make a decision sooner rather than later before the funding dries up. The event is running over the 15th and 16th of September and has been marked as ‘must attend’ for those involved in developing superfast or ultrafast broadband projects, funding programmes, or digital policy development.
